I just received the third email insisting I rate this shoe. So here it is. These shoes have a profile which goes in towards the ankle. In the pair I have, the left shoe angle seemed/felt slightly more acute than the right one. Coupled with the fact that this part of the shoe is hard leather (all my other ankle height shoes seem to have a softer material and/or padding in this area), it hurt my left ankle. I couldn't wear it due to the high discomfort once the ankle (and the achilles) was irritated. My excitement and the online session I had with the shop had given me a false sense of security such that I wasn't smart enough to wear it at home first. So I couldn't return the shoes for a different model. It took multiple emails to get any response to my issue which suggested I could tape my ankle until it got used to it (i.e. the shoe is fine your ankle is the problem). Disappointing response for $400 NZD shoes... Luckily a local shoe repairer was able to offer an actual solution which involved hammering the stiff area to soften the leather and to flatten the curve. It caused a little damage but solved my problem and I have been wearing the shoes happily. This will teach me not to buy shoes online ever again. If you find yourself with a similar issue, see your local shoe repair place, think twice before buying online and if you do anyway, wear them at home for an extended period first. A small variation between the shoes caused me a lot of discomfort and it took me a few days to get over the response I received. Still happy for the large toebox and the sole shape and texture but don't think my overall experience is worth the high price.
